Latest Updates from Our Project:

Revised Masts are up!
almost 6 years ago – Sat, Apr 28, 2018 at 02:12:16 AM

Just a heads up Crew- more secure and snug masts are uploaded to the Backerkit, and should be working beautifully for you all!

Parts 2,3, and 4 of the masts are revised for a MUCH tighter fit

They fit well enough you can flip them upside down now- and a mini will still hang out for the ride;-)

Ships Wheels! Cannons! Cargo! And more.
almost 6 years ago – Tue, Apr 24, 2018 at 12:20:05 AM

Hello all!

First off- I heard that decking disappeared on Backerkit for a bit, it's been resolved and those of you impacted should have it available again.

Now to the meat of the update- I've reconfigured the crows nest to be friction fit, and support-free!!

Cannon's are now working great, as is the cargo pieces :-)

Cargo pieces include: a misc. boxes cargo pallet, a barrels cargo pallet, a mix of the two, a amphora cargo pallet, and two covered pallet's (to keep nosy crew out of).

.2mm, 15% infill. Printed support free.

Ships Wheel is also working great- it spins! And prints support free.

Below decks access via stairs is getting *vvvverrrry* close to ready to distribute- the upper deck to riser level bit is just being adjusted, and a hatch cover being finished for the stairs.

Lower deck walls are almost ready as well- I want to upload them as a pack- so expect to see it in the next few days.

The lower hull section for those of you that are wanting to design ships of war have a new friend - the triple cannon section. It is 2 panels wide, but has 3 cannon ports. While initially I wanted to have a double cannon port, there wasn't space left for the OpenLOCK connectors with it- so here lies the compromise. It does still look much more imposing next to it's single panel/ single cannon port brethren.

The V2 sterncastle is almost ready for distribution- and a revised mast set (with tighter fitting connections) should be ready within a day or two.

We've had several join the facebook group this week and share their builds in progress as well, which has been great!

Thank you all for the amazing support!

Small update- Sterncastle V2
about 6 years ago – Sat, Apr 14, 2018 at 01:36:20 AM

So, just a little update as I had a bit of a issue with my printer- was hoping to show off the full new sterncastle design for the core ship. The pictures don't show it 'clipped' into the rail-wall, as there were some flaws on the print, but it does give a good idea of how it will look :-)

There's a hint of how turrets will work in the picture as well.

3d snapshot of the new sterncastle back pieces.

Also- a picture of what the stern rail looks like on top of the 1st version of the sterncastle- for a less ornate looking ship.

Other news- figured out the geometry for the transition piece for the risers, and the stairs for them. Also finished the geometry for a stairwell leading below decks.

You may note by looking that I'm not quite finished printing my own ship - the rigging rail pieces I still need to print two of ;-)

Sorry for the delays on the 'instruction manual' - it's a lot of pieces to take screen shots of, and arrange for the manual. It is coming though.
